Project Country: United States
Contracting Agency and Office: U.S. Department of Defense, National Center for Telehealth and Technology
The MilitaryKidsConnect (MKC) program is a Web-based resource for military children ages 6–17 that provides education, support, and coping skills for all aspects of military life, particularly parental deployment. As a subcontractor, Danya supported the client, Consolidated Analysis Centers, Inc. (CACI), as well as the funding Federal agency, Department of Defense, National Center for Telehealth and Technology (T2), with development of the MKC Web site content. Danya also conducted a nationwide pilot usability study to assess the usability and likeability of the Web site as reported by the target audience, military children.
Project Portfolio—MKC Interactive Multimedia
Danya provided research, content, and feedback to T2 and CACI in the development of games and activities to support resilience and coping skills in military children and their peers. The team contributed to the development of several videos and games to teach children about the locations to which their parent was being deployed, such as Afghanistan or South Korea. In addition, we developed a series of research-informed animated graphic novel scripts, infographics, and video talking points covering psycho-educational topics including posttraumatic stress disorder, physical injury, traumatic brain injury, and grief and loss.
