Jeffrey A. Hoffman, Ph.D.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
As founder and CEO of Danya, Dr. Hoffman provides overall strategic direction and leadership for Danya. Overseeing all aspects of Danya's strategic alliances and commercial ventures, he is responsible for the strategic growth of the company. Dr. Hoffman has more than 25 years of experience as an executive, clinician, and researcher, and he has published extensively in a wide range of public health areas, including drug and tobacco addictions, HIV/AIDS, mental health, and family relationships.

Dr. Hoffman has been the principal investigator on several federally funded research projects and has authored or co-authored more than 30 research and clinical articles and treatment manuals. He was the principal author for the comprehensive substance abuse treatment and relapse prevention program titled Living in Balance: Moving From a Life of Addiction to a Life of Recovery and co-developer of the Adolescent Smoking Cessation Escaping Nicotine and Tobacco (ASCENT) program. Both products are published by Hazelden Publishing and Educational Services. Through his work at Danya, Dr. Hoffman has also spearheaded the development of numerous health-related Web sites, videotapes, multimedia programs, and social marketing projects.

Dr. Hoffman initiated the opening of Danya's East Africa office in Nairobi, Kenya, and led the public-private partnership pilot study, called Mobile Direct Observation Treatment, using mobile video phones to monitor tuberculosis medication compliance. Dr. Hoffman also serves as Chairman of the Board of the not-for-profit Danya Institute; as a member of the Board of Save A Child's Heart, which performs pediatric heart surgeries in Israel for children from Palestine and developing countries; and as a member of the Board of the Corporate Council on Africa, the leading US-Africa trade organization.

Dr. Hoffman received a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, an M.A. in Family Studies and Child Development from Stanford University, and a B.A. in Liberal Arts from Michigan State University.
