Danya Launches Zebrajobs.com, a new Africa-wide Job Search Engine Aims to Bring One Million Job Seekers Together with Thousands of Employers to "Be Discovered" in Africa
Zebrajobs.com is an online platform for skilled professionals from multiple disciplines to register, create, and post personal profiles and résumés; receive e mail alerts on African employment opportunities; and obtain free career advice and skills improvement training. Employers have the benefit of posting positions, receiving applications in various formats, and taking advantage of a built-in advanced applicant tracking tool. Zebrajobs.com officially launched on December 10, 2007, at a joint press conference in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, by cofounders Danya and Info Mind Solutions (IMS), the largest recruitment and human development agency in Ethiopia. "Finding a good job is one of the most important steps in a person’s life," said Jeff Hoffman, Ph.D., President and CEO of Danya. "If our investment can help people be discovered by quality employers in Africa, we will have made an important contribution." Zebrajobs.com has aggregated nearly 10,000 job postings in the last couple of months for countries across Africa and aims to register more than 1 million jobseekers worldwide. It is unique in its approach to draw the African diaspora and expatriates who wish to return to Africa by making a range of career opportunities accessible. "Significant numbers of people left Africa for many reasons, but now opportunities are growing and many compatible posts are available," said Yussuf Reja, owner and Managing Director of IMS. "The diaspora does not necessarily know where to begin. That is how Zebrajobs.com can help, by bringing them home and being part of our greater nation-building efforts." Zebrajobs.com is free for job seekers. Companies may post openings at no cost for a limited time. The Web site also serves recent graduates and students seeking internship and exchange program information in Africa. "Zebrajobs.com is more than a job site," said Hoffman. "It enhances the capacity building of Africa’s greatest and most vital asset, its people." In early 2008, Zebrajobs.com plans to host a virtual Africa Job Fair to better match jobs to job seekers via Internet-based meeting spaces with employers. The goal is to lead qualified candidates to phone or in-person interviews and, ultimately, new jobs. About Danya International, Inc.
