Danya Celebrates 10-Year Anniversary

Silver Spring, Maryland (January 3, 2007) – Danya International, Inc. (Danya), a health communications, research, and technology firm delivering breakthrough solutions for public health and education, celebrates 10 years of successful growth. From their first Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) project to develop an online screening assessment for drugs and alcohol to their 75th SBIR, numerous contracts in health and education, and more than 200 employees, Danya has become a leader in implementing new technology to address today's health and education problems in tobacco use, drug abuse, HIV prevention, early childhood education, child and family health, and mental health education. Danya is also a leader in promoting diversity, both within the company and in many aspects of its work.

"I have come to think of Danya as a 'social impact' company," remarks Jeff Hoffman, Ph.D., President and CEO. Dr. Hoffman adds, "We have had the opportunity as a company to develop creative solutions to various significant human problems in health and education. For example, this past year, we launched PEPFAR.net, a coordinated communications extranet that is now a vital component of the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) initiative and is used by more than 10 U.S. Government agencies and 50 countries. Over the past several years, we have managed and enhanced the Head Start Monitoring Support System and have been working in partnership with the Federal Government to improve the quality of early childhood Head Start education programs for underserved children and families. Combining communications, research, and creative technologies¾these are the kinds of opportunities that have allowed us to have a positive impact on important health and education issues."

In recognition of their 10 years of service, Danya has published a 10-Year Anniversary Newsletter summarizing its projects and accomplishments. This newsletter demonstrates the multidisciplinary and diverse skills, talents, and creativity of this unique company. In addition to managing a wide range of Government contracts for the National Institutes of Health, Administration for Children and Families, State Department, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, U.S. Department of Transportation, the U.S. Navy, and many more, Danya has a number of commercial ventures in health communications technology, animation, and e-learning. Danya has also developed a number of health education products, including a leading drug addiction treatment manual, Living In Balance, published and distributed by Hazelden Publishing and Educational Services, and numerous Web sites and products for children, families, and teachers concerning critical topics such as Tourette Syndrome, autism, cancer, and tobacco prevention and cessation.
