Living In Balance – Successful Hazelden Publication

SILVER SPRING, MD. (January 6, 2004) – Danya International, Inc. (Danya) has recently developed a novel research-based addiction treatment curriculum. Living In Balance: Moving from a Life of Addiction to a Life of Recovery, published and distributed by Hazelden Publishing and Education, is a comprehensive and practical guide for conducting treatment sessions for people with substance-related problems.

Richard Solly, Senior Acquisitions Editor with Hazelden, states, "Living In Balance is the most comprehensive treatment curriculum Hazelden has published to date. This exemplary curriculum provides a core 12 sessions with an additional 21 that provide guidance on more focused topics and builds on the information found in the core." According to Solly, "It's a complete package for the clinician, offering a facilitator guide, a total of 33 client sessions on recovery-related topics, audio tapes, relaxation methods, all produced by Danya, a leader in the field of research and development of addiction recovery-related educational materials, supported by grants from the National Institute on Drug Abuse."

Dr. Jeffrey Hoffman, co-author and President and CEO of Danya, stated, "Living In Balance draws on the power of addiction research, behavioral health science, and clinical best practices." Mim Landry, co-author and Director of Medical and Science Communication at Danya, noted that, "A unique feature of Living In Balance is the fact that it is designed for use in all clinical settings: short- and long-term programs, individual and group sessions, and outpatient or inpatient."

Solly further states, "Living in Balance has been enthusiastically embraced by clinicians and clients in both treatment and corrections markets. Its sales have surpassed our expectations, and it is our lead product in treatment. No other treatment curriculum has had such remarkable success in the treatment market. No doubt, the success of this carefully researched, state-of-the-art treatment curriculum is due to the quality of its content, instructional design, presentation, and ease of use for clients. Living In Balance will help to save lives. Living in Balance will help people in recovery live more harmoniously and prosper. There is nothing on the market like Living In Balance. Hazelden is proud to be its publisher."

The curriculum gives clinicians the tools to help patients increase their knowledge of the processes of addiction and recovery, develop skills to deal with emotions, develop relapse prevention skills, and learn practical living skills. It does so through educational components, written exercises, role-play exercises, and relaxation and visualization exercises.
