Danya International Opens an Office in Atlanta, Georgia

SILVER SPRING, MD. (November 14, 2003) – Danya International, Inc. (Danya), opened an office in Atlanta, Georgia, at 17 Executive Park Drive, #650, Atlanta, GA 30329, and established an Atlanta-based presence.

Dr. Jeff Hoffman, President and CEO of Danya, states, "This is a very important move for Danya to establish our presence in Atlanta so that we can develop a close working partnership with CDC. Our commitment to promoting health and education along with our expertise in several public health areas, which includes prevention of infectious diseases and tobacco control, are areas where we would like to support and strengthen CDC's efforts."

Leigh Ann Hawley, Danya's Atlanta representative, has joined Danya's marketing team and serves as Senior Business Development Associate. Ms. Hawley believes that "this is an exciting opportunity to establish ourselves in a market filled with opportunities that match our expertise."

Danya is a dynamic, young company with broad expertise in health communications and technology. Danya has had four multimedia health communications Small Business Innovation Research projects with CDC, including the following:

Deliver Free of STDs. The purpose of this project is to design an intervention that educates women of childbearing age about the risks of STDs on pregnancy and pregnancy-related outcomes. The intervention consists of a patient education video for young women, a patient education brochure, a partner education product, a CME-accredited online course for health care providers, and several auxiliary materials for providers.

Parent-Child Communication Video. For this project Danya will develop and evaluate videos for African American and Latino parents of 10- to 13-year-olds that enhance parent-child communication about sexuality and sexual behavior and increase their ability to successfully monitor their child's behavior.

Peer to Peer: STD Risk Reduction. Danya designed, developed, and evaluated a culturally sensitive, age-appropriate, multimedia intervention to reduce the transmission of STDs among targeted at-risk African American youth, ages 12 to 15. This project's Website can be found at www.stopthinkbesafe.org.

Tobacco Prevention and Control Knowledge Management System. For the CDC/Office on Smoking and Health, Danya has developed a prototype knowledge management system, known as www.KnowTobacco.net. This Web-based tool will be a sophisticated, searchable database of all relevant tobacco control research, programs, policies, strategies, and tactics. This product will be beneficial to tobacco prevention and control professionals, students, and the general public.
