Silver Spring Firm Honored With Two National Health Information Awards SILVER SPRING, MD. (October 2, 2002) – An educational package to help manage pain and a program to increase prenatal care for at-risk populations have won national acclaim from the Health Information Research Center (HIRC). Danya International, Inc., a health communications company based in Silver Spring, Maryland, produced the two programs, which were among 900 submissions in consumer health for the 2002 National Health Information Awards. "We are thrilled to capture such prestigious recognition for our programs, which were designed to help healthcare professionals, patients, and their families improve their health," said Jeffrey Hoffman, PhD, President and CEO of Danya. Pain-Prep: Coping With Painful Procedures, a multi-component program for pain management with a training video for healthcare providers and materials for parents and children, won the Silver Award. Special Delivery: Increasing Prenatal Care Utilization, a program to increase prenatal care in at-risk populations, won a Merit Award in the Consumer Decision-Making Information category. The program includes an easy-to-use, publicly available home pregnancy test, a gift box containing prenatal care and referral information, and free products and coupons. "These educational products are simple in scope, yet they have the potential to help so many adults and children," said Kristen Holtz, PhD, Vice President of Child and Family Health at Danya. The National Health Information Awards program is coordinated by the HIRC, a national clearinghouse for consumer health information programs and materials. The center promotes the distribution of accurate, timely consumer health information materials to professionals and managers in the field.
