Ongoing Series Explores Emerging Trends and Proven Practices in Health Communications

Silver Spring, Maryland (March 30, 2010) – Danya International, Inc. (Danya), is launching the first event of its quarterly HealthMatters series, gathering experts and leaders in the field of public health to discuss the Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA) epidemic. The event will be held on Thursday, April 8, from 3–5 pm (sign-in begins at 2:45 pm) at the Danya office in Atlanta.

Through the lens of an investigative journalist, medical expert, and patient, attendees will learn what makes MRSA the perfect pathogen, the type and extent of damage it can wreak on the human body, why it is spreading beyond hospital doors to the community, and what we are and should be doing, as individuals and a society, to prevent the spread of MRSA infection.

The featured speaker for this event is Maryn McKenna, an award-winning health journalist formerly of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, and author of the just-released book Superbug: The Fatal Menace of MRSA. Panel participants include Diane Lore, former health editor of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and MRSA patient, as well as renowned medical experts specializing in infectious disease, global health, and health policy. A networking session and a book signing will follow the event.
