Danya CEO Discusses New Opportunities, Shifting Priorities for Government Contractors Under New Administration at GovConNet
Danya’s Hoffman Shares Best Practices for Success as a Government Contractor

Silver Spring, Maryland (February 13, 2009)Danya International, Inc. (Danya), a communications, research, and technology firm and a successful government contractor, was a featured company at a forum sponsored by the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce (MCCC). Chief Executive Officer and Danya founder Dr. Jeffrey Hoffman shared the challenges his company has overcome in its 12 years in business and changes and opportunities he envisions in the Obama Administration.

During the MCCC-sponsored GovConNet forum “New Administration = New Opportunity,” Dr. Hoffman discussed the challenges of building a business into a major competitor in the federal procurement arena.“The best way to ensure success in government contracting is to deliver over-the-top customer service and develop strong working relationships with both your project and contract officers,” explained Dr. Hoffman. “Identify what makes you unique in the marketplace and stay focused on your core capabilities. Don’t try to do too many things at once. My biggest mistake has been trying to do too many things all at the same time. Figuring out what you do best and continually working to strengthen those skill sets will differentiate your business among a very crowded contracting pool.”

Dr. Hoffman also gave an overview of what he sees as the new Administration’s priorities in the public health sector and what that means in terms of opportunities for government contractors. Potential growth areas cited by Dr. Hoffman include:

  • Healthcare information management systems
  • Prevention programs targeting infectious diseases, such as HIV/AIDS and chronic diseases, including diabetes, heart disease, and cancer
  • Military health improvements for active military, veterans, and their families
  • Increased funding for research, education, and support services to address disabilities, including autism
  • Education initiatives, from early childhood education to college loan programs
  • International aid initiatives to strengthen healthcare infrastructure in underdeveloped countries

GovConNet is a new initiative launched by the MCCC in 2008 as a federal procurement resource for education, connections, and information. The mission is “to promote the county’s world-class government contracting industry to connect federal contractors with emerging procurement opportunities and with the tools and services necessary to grow.” The GovConNet forum on New Administration = New Opportunity was held on January 22, 2009.
